Interactive Light Art

2024
LED matrix, depth camera, Raspberry Pi — 15 × 35 in
A wall-mounted LED display with a depth camera watches the space in front of it. Step in, and your silhouette is recorded for ten seconds.
While you stand there, a stranger's silhouette — randomly pulled from a growing archive of previous visitors — plays alongside yours. You appear in blue. They appear in white. No features, no identity. Just the form of two people, briefly sharing space.
Your recording joins the archive. The next visitor will be paired with someone from it. Maybe you.
“You pass people on the street, some are for you, some are not.”— Robert Henri, The Art Spirit
